He has stated that Mind Robotics is prioritizing &#8220;practical&#8221; industrial automation over spectacle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Targeting Complexity:<\/strong> The startup is building a platform for robots that can handle the nuanced, dexterous tasks\u2014like wiring and intricate assembly\u2014that traditional, rigid factory robots struggle with.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A &#8220;No Cartwheels&#8221; Philosophy:<\/strong> In a pointed comment to the media, Scaringe noted that while humanoid robots doing acrobatics might be visually impressive, &#8220;doing cartwheels does not create value in manufacturing.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Rivian Connection<\/strong> Mind Robotics maintains a strategic &#8220;flywheel&#8221; relationship with Rivian:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Data and Training:<\/strong> The robots will be trained using massive datasets gathered from Rivian\u2019s real-world manufacturing plants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>First Adopters:<\/strong> Rivian, which retains a minority stake in the startup, will serve as the primary testing ground for the new robotic systems before they are marketed to other industrial clients.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Custom Tech:<\/strong> The company may also leverage custom silicon chips originally developed by Rivian for its autonomous vehicle systems to power the robots&#8217; AI &#8220;brains.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Addressing Global Shortages<\/strong> The move comes at a time when global manufacturing faces chronic labor shortages and a push for greater regional competitiveness.
