This milestone follows a $100 million Series B funding round led by Sequoia Capital, with continued support from prominent firms like Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, and Index Ventures.

The Vision: A “Web for Machines” Since being ousted from Twitter (now X) following Elon Musk’s 2022 acquisition, Agrawal has shifted his focus to the foundational infrastructure of the AI era. Parallel Web Systems is developing a “programmatic web” designed specifically for autonomous AI agents rather than human browsers.

Agrawal’s core thesis is that AI agents—software designed to perform complex tasks on behalf of humans—will eventually account for more internet traffic than people do. To facilitate this, Parallel provides specialized APIs and a proprietary web index that allows these agents to conduct “deep research” with much higher precision and speed than current tools allow.

Scaling for the Enterprise The startup’s technology is already being utilized by over 100,000 developers and enterprise clients, including legal AI leader Harvey AI. These organizations use the platform to automate labor-intensive tasks such as:

Processing insurance claims.

Conducting investment analysis.

Sifting through complex government contracts.

Legal research and data extraction.

Growth and Expansion With this fresh infusion of capital, Parallel Web Systems—which currently employs roughly 50 people—plans to aggressively expand its research and development efforts. Agrawal also noted that the funds will be used to build out the company’s first dedicated sales and marketing teams to capitalize on the surging demand for “long-horizon” AI agents that can operate independently for extended periods.

This rapid ascent—more than doubling its $740 million valuation from just five months ago—highlights the intense investor appetite for the “plumbing” of the AI economy, positioning Agrawal as a central figure in the next wave of internet infrastructure.

Former Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has successfully steered his new AI startup, Parallel Web Systems Inc., to a $2 billion valuation.
